Stand-up Zipper Bags For Coffee, Tea And Snacks
Leave a message
The vertical drawstring bag has become a popular choice for coffee, tea and snack packaging because of its convenience, good sealing and excellent display effect. Here are key design considerations considerations, features and selection suggestions for vertical zip bags to help brands compete:
I. Core design elements
1.Material Selection: Balancing barrier performance and cost
Coffee/Tea Packaging:
Recommended Structures: PET (Polyester)/AL (Aluminum Foil)/PE (Polyethylene) or (Kraft Paper)/AL/PE.
PET/AL/PE: High barrier properties (oxygen transmission rate ≤ 1cc/ (m2·24h·atm)), moisture and oxidation resistance, suitable for easily oxidized products such as coffee beans and tea leaves.
Kraft paper/ Kraft/AL/PE: Natural looking, eco-friendly and suitable for organic tea or premium coffee brands.
Recommended Thickness: Total thickness 120-150μm, aluminum foil layer thickness ≥ 7μm.
Snack Packaging:
Recommended Structure: PET/VMPET (Aluminum Plated Polyester)/PE or BOPP (Bidirectional Polypropylene)/CPP (Cast Polypropylene).
PET/VMPET/PE: Moderate barrier, lower cost than pure aluminum foil, suitable for nuts and puffed foods.
BOPP/CPP: Highly transparent and suitable for snacks (such as dried fruit and sweets) that need to display the colour of the product.
Thickness Recommendation: Total thickness 80-100μm, VMPET layer thickness ≥ 12 microns.
2.Sealing Performance: zipper and heat seal Dual protection.
Zipper Design:
Type Selection:
Indented Zipper: Easy to open and close, ideal for regular snacks such as nuts.
Slider Zipper: Easy to handle with one hand, suitable for products that require precise dosage control, such as ground coffee.
Seal strength: When zippers are zipped, they shall be able to withstand tension of 0.5 N /15mm or more to prevent air leakage.
Compatibility Testing: Ensure the zipper is compatible with the cloth bag material to avoid damaging the aluminum foil layer due to friction. Heat Sealing Process:
Sealing Strength: Thermal seal width ≥ 8mm and peel force ≥ 1.5N/15mm to prevent cracking during transport.
Top seal: Add a heat seal below the zipper for double sealing to ensure moisture resistance.

3. Structural Optimization: self-support and user experience
Bottom design:
Angled Structure: Base angle ≥ 120 degrees to ensure the bag's upright stability and prevent capsizing.
Thickened Base: Bottom PE layer thickness increased to 40-50μm to enhance carrying capacity (over 500 grams of support).
Opening Design:
Easy Tear Notch: A laser-perforated tear line has been added to the top of the zipper to make it easy to open.
Degassing Valve (coffee only):
One-way degassing valve: Releases CO2 from the degassing of degassing coffee beans, preventing expansion while preventing oxygen from entering.
Installation Position: Valve is opened at least 20mm from the top edge of the bag to avoid disturbing the zipper. ii. Functional Advantages
1. Freshness Preservation Moisture-Proofing
Coffee/Tea: aluminum foil layer block oxygen and moisture, extending shelf life (coffee beans can last 12-18 months).
Snacks: Aluminum coating or high barrier polyethylene can prevent dampness and softening (potato chips, for example, can last up to 7 days).
2. Portability and Reusability
Zipper Closure: Allows multiple uses for office, outdoor spaces, etc.
Lightweight: Vertical pouches are 30%-50% lighter than canned food, reducing shipping costs.
